Am I eligible for adult orthodontic treatment?
Age is not generally a barrier when it comes to adult orthodontic treatment. However, you’ll need to be in good dental health in order to achieve successful results.
As a first step, our dentists will carry out a thorough examination to assess the condition of your teeth and gums, and recommend any procedures that may need to be carried out before we proceed with your orthodontic treatment.
What are my treatment options?
You can generally choose between fixed or removable braces. Fixed braces utilise tooth-coloured or clear brackets for minimal cosmetic impact for the duration of your orthodontic treatment, or you may opt for Invisalign treatment that uses a series of virtually invisible clear plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into position over time.
Also keep in mind that there are more benefits of straight teeth than cosmetic improvements alone. Straight teeth are less prone to bacterial buildup and tend to be more resistant to decay and abnormal wear.
How long does the treatment take?
It all depends on the extent of correction you require. Treatment for mild cases may be completed within just a few months, while more complex cases may require a year or more of ongoing treatment.
It’s also important to remember that you’ll need to wear retainers for a period following the removal of your braces. Retainers can be removable or bonded onto the rear surfaces of your teeth for a near invisible appearance.
